When arriving at Tucson Touch Therapies for the
first time, you will be asked to fill out a health history form.
This ensures that your therapist has the necessary information to
make decisions on how to tailor your treatment to your individual
needs. Please allow an extra ten minutes before your appointment
time to fill out this form.
After reviewing your health history form, your
therapist will invite you into the treatment room, and close the
door, to conduct a private pre-treatment interview. You will be
asked questions on several topics—such as clarification about your
health history, your tolerance for applied treatment pressure, and
music preferences. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any
questions you may have regarding your session.
The therapist will then leave the treatment room,
closing the door, to allow you to get comfortable. Before entering
to perform your treatment, she or he will knock on the door to make
certain you are ready.
After the treatment, your therapist will leave
you in privacy, with the door closed, so that you can get off the
table and re-dress (with some therapies you are fully clothed).
Your therapist may want to talk with you about your treatment afterwards.
If so, you will be asked to open the treatment room door when you
are ready so that the two of you can speak privately. Otherwise,
your therapist will meet you outside the treatment room and escort
you to the waiting room.
The following are considerations for specific
types of treatments—
As these treatments involve the application
of lubricant to your skin to facilitate muscle and other soft tissue
engagement, removal of clothing is necessary. Your therapist will
leave the treatment room so that you can undress to your level of
comfort in privacy. You will then get on the massage table under
the top sheet. Only the part of your body that is being worked on
will be undraped, such as your back or legs. Modesty and professional
boundaries are maintained at all times. If you have questions or
concerns about draping, or the treatment, please feel free to address
them with your therapist.
Heat and cold are applied during these treatments.
Your therapist will ask you your temperature tolerance and adjust
the treatment accordingly. As these treatments also involve the
application of lubricant to your skin to facilitate muscle and other
soft tissue engagement, removal of clothing is necessary. Your therapist
will leave the treatment room so that you can undress to your level
of comfort in privacy. You will then get on to the massage table
under the top sheet. Draping for these treatments may be a little
less conservative than with other massage therapies. Your therapist
will explain the draping thoroughly. If you have questions or concerns
about draping or the treatment, please feel free to address them
with your therapist.
These Asian Bodywork Treatments do not use lubricants;
you remain fully clothed. Since many stretches and joint mobilizations
are used during the treatment, it is important that you wear comfortable,
loose-fitting shirts and pants. Shiatsu, Thai Massage and Zen Stretching
are usually performed on a futon (mat) on the floor. Ten Zo is performed
on a massage table. After the pre-treatment interview, your therapist
will leave you for a few minutes so that you can lie down on the
futon, or massage table, and become comfortable. She or he will
then knock before entering to make sure you are ready.
Visits are generally 60–90 minutes. The
first session includes an initial interview. You remain fully clothed,
without shoes, while lying on a massage table (or sitting in a chair
if needed). Your practitioner will assess for energy disturbances
and then utilize the appropriate Healing Touch techniques to clear
energetic imbalances and integrate the energy field. Your practitioner
will balance your energy through light touch of your body and your
energy field.
