Tuina

Tuina massage is a therapeutic form of bodywork that originated in ancient China and is an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). “Tui Na” (pronounced “twee-nah”) translates to “push and grasp” in Chinese, reflecting the primary techniques used in this therapy.

Developed over 2,000 years ago, Tuina massage involves manipulating the body’s muscles and soft tissues to stimulate the flow of Qi (life energy) and blood, promoting balance and harmony within the body. Culturally significant, Tuina is deeply rooted in Chinese medical traditions and is often used alongside acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other TCM practices to treat various ailments and maintain overall health.

What to expect:

This is a fully clothed session, please wear comfortable, loose-fitting slothing as you will not need to undress. Because Tuina is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), your practioner may ask to begin by examining your tongue and take your pulse as part of their diagnostic asessment. These observations help guide the session and ensure it is tailored to your individual needs. Cupping and Guasha can be incorporated into your treatment if needed.

After your Tuina Session:

After a Tuina massage, it is best to avoid strenuous activity, cold drinks and exposure to cold environments. These simple precautions help your body maintain the benefits of the session and continue the healing and balancing process.
